In October 2008 -I was just the 2nd Ausbildungsjahr- I traded me a cold one after the other. I had a very strong cough, which was not less, despite medication. As a PH patient each infection is a struggle.

This cough verschlimerte so far that my parents several times were about to call an ambulance.

I was sick the entire autumn / winter.

Maybe some remember that winter was extremely cold 2008/2009 in Germany. We had temperatures down to -30 ° C.

The January 6, 2009 actually began to like each other but this day changed my whole life ...

On this day I phoned in the morning with my boss who asked for my are and my mother offered to drive me to work on me.
I went relatively well on the day, at least until I came outside.

Since it was so extremely cold, my mother took the car in front of the door, while I waited in the house on it. When they came with the car, I tried as soon as possible to get into the car and since my breathing difficult at these temperatures much I gave me a scarf over her mouth.

My error was that I had not thought about it at the beginning of the ride was only a few degrees warmer than outside what was to me fatal.

So I at least -10 ° C to be inhaled, caught as I always did it on the way to work.

What happened next I can only begin to reflect and narratives from my mother ...

Made with each breath that I did with the inhalant was my breathing heavy. It was as if my lungs froze. What was not so far-fetched, since I, strictly speaking, liquid inhaled.

That my mother yelled at me that I should not just stop breathing, I got by with a huge wad wall.
I had covered no more control over my body and was the basis of which the inhaler. Of course we had emergency oxygen bottles always * O-Pur * with what was not good enough in the moment.

My mother drove so fast right quickly as she could. She stopped in a parking bay in front of a medical center and there is stormed in a pharmacy.

A pharmacist brought directly to the doctor who had his practice there and the other came with my mother back to the car.

I remember that I tried to get out myself, but had obviously not done.
It took me only once in the doctor's office and while I inhaled the warm air in practice I could breathe again. As the ambulance was there, I was feeling better already so far that I could discuss with him about where he laid the access under any circumstances.

Then we went by ambulance to the Hospital Leverkusen, where the doctors really did not know exactly what to do with me. None of the doctors asked me how I was doing. They discussed rather loudly to each other, why I got this or that drug. Eventually they did'm sorry and I told them what each drug was. Somehow pretty wicked ... and such people should save lives ...

After further back and forth is critical then finally for me to move to Bonn in the clinic, since which knew about the better.
So it went with blue lights on the motorway to Bonn.

In Bonn I stayed a week.

My previously stable condition had deteriorated dramatically:
My physical performance had declined rapidly.

My lung function was down to something with 30% and run, even only once to the toilet, was almost impossible.

My doctors were talking about, that I should ever grappled with the issue of heart-lung transplantation.

I thought Okay I krig out because the fact is that I did not want to die so there was nothing there for me to think about it.

I opted for the transplant.
